How to unlock bootloader on Xiaomi 15/ Xiaomi 15 Pro

Unlocking the bootloader is the first step if you plan to root your phone, install a custom recovery like TWRP, or flash custom ROMs. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the official method for Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro China models, and explain the situation for global versions, which are more restricted.

How to Unlock bootloader on Xiaomi 15:

If your device is running the China version of HyperOS, follow these steps:

Step 1: Enable Developer Options

      1. Go to Settings > About phone.

      2. Tap HyperOS version multiple times until it says “You are now a developer.”

Step 2: Turn on OEM Unlocking & USB Debugging

      1. Go to Settings > Additional settings > Developer options.

      2. Enable OEM unlocking and USB debugging.

Step 3: Apply for Bootloader Unlock Permission

      1. Install and open the Mi Community Global app.

      2. Sign in with your Mi Account.

      3. Go to Profile > Settings > Unlock the device > Apply now.

      4. Fill in your information honestly and submit the form.

You’ll receive confirmation via email and on-device message once approved. Approval can take anywhere from 3 to 30 days, depending on your region and device.

Step 4: Download and Use Mi Unlock Tool

      1. After approval, download the Mi Unlock Tool and extract it on your PC.

      2. Run MiUnlock.exe and log in using the same Mi Account.

Step 5: Boot Device into Fastboot Mode

      1. Power off your phone.

      2. Hold Volume Down + Power until the Fastboot screen appears.

      3. Connect your phone to the PC using a USB cable.

      4. Click Unlock in the tool and wait for the process to complete.

Done! Your bootloader is now unlocked, and you’re free to customize your phone.

For Xiaomi 15 / 15 Pro (Global ROM)

Unfortunately, Xiaomi has restricted bootloader unlocking on global models of the Xiaomi 15 series. As of now, there is no official way to unlock the bootloader on global devices via Mi Unlock Tool or the Community app.
